Birmingham born Peter Virdee is a Property investor who has an interest in a number of other business areas too. In 2011, he set up The Virdee Foundation, which was created to aid people globally in a number of ways. As the first Sikh patron of the English National Opera, Peter Virdee also sits on the UK philanthropy board of the private bank and wealth managers Coutts & Co. Mr Virdee has established the Sardar Jagat Singh Charitable Trust in India (named after his late grandfather), which has successfully carried out 400 cataract operations from start to finish while also sponsoring 80 children starting from primary education in the hope that this sponsorship will lead to future scholarships. As a patron of the NSPCC, Mr Virdee has also donated a sizeable chunk of his money to help to build the Hargreaves Centre in Merseyside.

In 2011, Peter Virdee was invited to meet Her Majesty the Queen at St James’ Palace while he was also part of the Sikh delegation to welcome HRH The Prince of Wales at the Indian war memorial in Neuve-Chapelle in France.
